Evaluation - Question 7
I gained skills in film taking, I was able to learn and apply my new knowledge in different camera angles. Furthermore, i was able to to gain and develop upon. This skill helped me edit and finalise my film.
Our preliminary task helped us gain an insight to the different camera angles we should include in order to make our opening scene successful. In addition with our preliminary task, we had to ensured that continuity would play a part in our thriller, as this adds fluidity from scene to scene. I have acquired several skills since our preliminary task, which most of these were towards editing, camera shots and angles.
Comparing my preliminary to my thriller, i would obviously say that my thriller is better. This is because in the beginning when doing our preliminary, we weren't quite sure as to how we should use final cut express and how to show continuity editing. Also throughout our preliminary, we weren't constant ie. we kept on changing our clothes and out hairstyle. this in turn emphasised the fact that it wasn't shot on the same day and also shows how inexperienced we were at doing a film.
This is our preliminary task.
The quality of shot in our thriller opening was really good. This is because when shooting, we continued using the tripod at all times. And even when we had to move with the actors the camera was still on the stand so that the image that was seen wasn't that shaky.
I think the quality of the image came out really well. with our preliminary task when had a lot of light so this put our filming process at more of an advantage. as compared to our thriller opening, where there was a lot of darkness. especially in the fight scene. However, we were able to work with this and use it to our advantage.
With our preliminary task, we weren't sure on how to work with the microphone because of this, we had to use subtitles instead. But in our thriller, we managed to figure out how to use the microphone and with this the quality of sound that we had we better compared to the preliminary task. When editing the audio we made sure to use audio levels to fade out or fade in the sounds to allow the music to be heard or introduce a new frame. In our thriller we also use non diegetic sounds such as the heartbeat and ambulance siren to emphasise what was showing on screen.
Continuity in our preliminary task wasn't good. This is because our costumes throughout the scenes kept on changing. It wasn't consistent. Me and my partner decided to take this on board and learnt from our mistake. So when shooting our thriller opening, we made sure that we kept the same costumes throughout the opening.
Compared to our preliminary task there is continuity in editing. We made sure to include many camera angles and techniques which we were lacking in our preliminary task.

Evaluation - Question 6
Throughout the duration of our thriller pre and post-production, I was able to acquire new knowledge about different kinds of technology used. We have used several new and old technologies:
- Blogger
- Mini DV Digital Camcorders
- Final Cut Express
- Mobile Phones( with camera)
- YouTube
- SurveyMonkey
- Freeplaymusic
- Glogster
We used these technologies when making our film and also continued to use them after the film production.
Mini DV Digital camcorders were used for the filming, which was later edited using Final Cut Express. When it was finished editing we uploaded it onto Youtube which later went on to Blogger to upload all our post and video tasks. FreePlayMusic was also used, we used this to find the correct kind of music for the different parts of our thriller e.g background music. In addition SurveyMonekey was used to gain data on the kinds of films that our audiences liked to view. It was later used to help us fanalise what was going to happen in our thriller. In addition the use of Glogster to create our mood board and mobile phones for our animatic (taking pictures).

Evaluation - Question 5
How do you attract/address your audience?
Bad Guy is able to hold the audience's attention, because it has several conventions of a thriller. It is eye-catching as it there is something happening in each scene, whether it be suspense or tension or a dilemma. The use of young actors, attracts the young audience. Not only does the use of young actors allows our audience to relate and also be drawn in by them, but the costume/ use of speech etc used by the actors further allows the audience to relate to what is happening in the opening scene.
This would surely hold the attention of our audience. They would want to continue watching it after the initial 2 minute opening scene, because it also ends as a cliffhanger. This cliffhanger ensures that our audience, would be determined to find out what happens to the young female and the murder. This is very similar to the urban thriller Shifty
Evaluation - Question 4
The audience of our thriller plays an important role as they decides how we should market it. Our thriller is aimed at young people. Around the age of 15 and upwards. This is because it contains young people, which are of a similar age.
In addition, informal language is used by the protagonist of Bad Guy. This heavily reflects the shared culture that majority of young people who live in an urban setting may have with the characters that are used in our thriller.
In conclusion, they would be more likely to watch our film, compared to other age groups, because they will be able to relate to the characters used in the film.
